
The Argan is kind of a the endemic plant of the Moroccan South Atlantic where it covers a surface of more than 830.000 Ha (more or less 21 million Trees). The main geographical area extends from the river of Tensift (to the north) and the river of Souss (to the South).
The argan tree (argania Spinosa) that today in day it only exists in a certain region of Morocco. They call it in this region "the tree of the life". The tree plays an important paper in the local economy as source of revenues. Anything is wasted: the wood is used as fuel, the leaves and the fruits provide forage for the goats and the almond oil extracted by the women it is used to cook and like element of the traditional medicine.
The argan tree also completes an important function: to avoid the desert: the very deep roots consolidate the earth preventing the erosion. The money that is obtained with the sale of the argan oil is also good to finance the education and the literacy of the women that they work in the cooperative ones.
